Lucas goes camping

Mommy and Daddy took me camping for the first time last weekend. We went to Alexander Springs in Ocala. It was pretty fun. On Friday Daddy packed the car full of camping and baby gear which was high that you couldn't see out the back. On the way to the campground the jug of water almost fell on Melanie when Daddy had to put on the brakes. She was so scared she jumped into Mommy's lap in the front seat. Daddy fixed it so it wouldn't fall on her again, but she kept one eye on it the whole trip there. When we got to the campsite our friends had already started to set up camp. Uncle Chad, Aunt Tara, Cooper, Derek, Dan, and Brigid were all there waiting for us (since we had to stove needed to make dinner). We got our tent all set up and Mommy gave me dinner while everyone cooked. I passed out early, but Mommy said everyone ate dinner and hung out around the campfire. It was cold Friday night. Mommy had me all bundled up so I wasn't very chilly, but her and Daddy sure snuggled close (even after I squeezed in between them). They realized the error of their ways (too many layers of clothes worn to bed and nothing between the air mattress and the ground) and figured out a better way to sleep sat night that was much warmer. On Sat we went for a walk on a typical Florida trail. Mommy showed off her mad skills because she could feed me and walk at the same time. Go Mommy! Mommy and Daddy had to take turns carrying me because I'm starting to get heavy and they forgot the snugglie at home. The next time we went for a walk Mommy and Daddy used their bed sheet to make a snugglie/wrap to help hold me close in order to save their arms. Sat afternoon Daddy and the boys went for a swim in the chilly spring. I wanted to go too, but Mommy said it would be too cold for me so I stayed behind with Cooper and Uncle Chad and decided to take a nap in the hammock with Mommy. I think I like camping except for some little bug called a tick that got on me and Daddy from our earlier walk. I thought Mommy was going to freak out. Daddy said it was little and we found it right away and told Mommy not to worry. She called the pediatrician who said it was fine unless I started not feeling well or acting funny. Even with that, overall it was a very relaxing weekend. On Sunday after breakfast it started to rain for a few minutes. No one seemed too happy about collapsing camping gear while it sprinkled. At least they got it all down before it started to pour.

Daddy is so silly it makes me laugh

In a rare moment of silliness, Daddy shows me the finer points of "Baby Eating".  Silly Daddy, you don't eat babies!  I gave him a few courtesy laughs so that he would leave me alone.  Daddy is pretty embarrassing, but I guess I will let him hang around for a few years...just for the laughs.

Daddy teaches me to High 5...sorta :)

Happy Valentines Day

We had a great Valentines Day weekend. Nana and Aunt Jamie came in and surprised Mommy with a visit. We had lots of fun. Daddy and Mommy made each other cards this year since Daddy doesn't like to spend money on a "fake" holiday (even though he bought Mommy flowers a few days later to show her that he really does love her). Mommy and Daddy said that I was the best Valentine ever. Nana and Aunt Jamie agreed.

daddy telling me not to do big arms so much even though I love him "this much"
mmm what's this?

Merry Christmas and Happy New year

I love holiday time. I get to spend time with my family, watch everyone eat lots of food, and see so many pretty decorations. Nana, Aunt Jamie, and Aunt Jordanne came and stayed with us for almost the whole week. Grandma and Grandpa came over for Christmas day and spent the night too. I got to see lots of people over the holidays and they all wanted to play with me. I love getting all the attention even though sometimes they wear me out and Mommy has to put me to sleep when I can't stand it any longer. I got these things called presents all wrapped up in paper that you have to tear open. I even got a few from that guy Santa that I met last month when I sat on his lap. I slept through Christmas morning, but I woke up with enough time to open all my presents. I got more presents than both Mommy and Daddy; that's because I'm so cute. Then Aunt Tara, Uncle Chad, and Cooper came over for New Years. Danae and Morghan also came over too. I had fun playing with Cooper until it was time for us to go to bed. I fell asleep on Morghan while everyone was looking pretty silly playing wii. I missed the ball dropping for new years, but I woke up to everyone playing with long sparkling sticks. I can't wait for the next holiday time so I can have more fun with my friends and family. Right now I'm working on entertaining Mommy and Daddy. They like to look at me and stick out their tongue. I think its funny so I stick mine out too. I also love talking to them. They don't seem to understand what I am saying, but hopefully they will catch on soon. Speaking of which I better get going, my fishies are swimming around on my swing without me.

Cloth Diaper Experiment

Well it seems that Mommy and Daddy are doing there best to try my patience.  Cloth Diapers?!?  What is it 1952?  Although, these "BumGenious" diapers are pretty swank.  They grow with me so that they always fit, they don't leak because they are waterproofed on the inside,  and they have a pocket to add an extra liner for my overnight diapers.  I think that when I go out of town or when I go to visit Gramma I will still like the convenience of throw aways..but hey these are nice for hanging around the house.  Plus, Mommy and Daddy have to wash them so I dont really care :)  I let Daddy take a picture of me wearing my ultra cool yellow diaper, but I didnt give him the satisfaction of a smile...so there!

Lights and Sounds all around

Lucas here for another update about us.....there are so many things that are going on at my house. We had a lovely Thanksgiving. Nana, Aunt Jamie, and Aunt Jordanne all came over to eat with us. It was lots of fun to spend a few days being passed around. Mommy and Daddy even got to show off the flower bed in the front of the house that is no longer the rock garden. It looks very nice and they worked very hard. After Thanksgiving Mommy and Daddy put up the Christmas tree covered in lights and decorated with ornaments. It's so pretty I like to stare at all the lights. Then while I was sleeping, Daddy got up on the roof and put up the Christmas lights with a little help from Mommy so he wouldn't fall off. Now the outside of the house is all lit up and I can see it when we go for a walk with Melanie. I love looking at all the different things around me. My three favorite things are Mommy, Daddy, and the fish that swim around above my head in my swing. We are always on the go it seems. We saw Grandpa, Uncle Matt, Cousin Jakob, and Cousin AJ (Grandma wasn't home). Then we went to Cooper's 2nd birthday party and met more friends that I always hear about. Last weekend we even went and saw Santa! I was a little sleepy cause Mommy woke me up to meet him, but I'm glad she did and I didn't miss out. I hear he brings good little boys presents at Christmas time. I can't wait. I wonder what he will bring me this year? This weekend Mommy and Daddy are taking me on my first road trip to Tallahassee. They loved to talk about this place so I'm excited to see it. There is supposed to be a parade and more friends to meet. We are even bringing Melanie with us. She better stay on her side of the car so I'm gonna have to cry and tell Mommy. I've been a little fussy lately because I haven't been feeling too well. The dr says no infection, but I think I'm a bit congested. I have to sleep at a funny angle now with a humidifier, but it seems to help a little. I'm now 1 month, 2 weeks and 4 days old. I'm bulking up and I now weigh 9 lbs and I'm 23 inches long. Before you know it I'll be out of these newborn clothes and onto bigger things. Speaking of bigger and better things it's time for me to eat and head off to bed. Goodnight.
